HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA)- A German company is opening a second home in Western North Carolina, with plans to create nearly 50 jobs.
Norafin Industries says it plans to build its first North American manufacturing facility in Henderson County.
The $18 million investment will create 46 new jobs in the area.
Norafin makes a special heat and flame resistant material used in protective apparel for firefighters. The company says, firefighter suits often contain 2 to 3 layers of their product.
Norafin plans to build a 75,000 square foot building in Mills River, on 14-acres on School House Road, near the intersection with Banner Farm Road.
“We learned that this site reminds them of their home in the Saxony region of Germany – the mountains, the valley and the community,” said Henderson County Commission Chairman Tommy Thompson, in the company news release.
Norafin plans to start work in the site early next year, and will begin hiring by late 2017.
