IVA, SC (WSPA) – A nine-year-old child was sent to a hospital Monday morning after an accident involving an Anderson School District 3 bus.
The accident between the bus and a car happened on Highway 81 South in front of Crescent High School according to the district superintendent.
The bus was stopped with the driver waiting to turn into the high school. That’s when the car crossed into the turning lane and hit the bus head-on according to the district.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Troopers say witnesses told them the driver of the car may have suffered a medical issue before the accident.
The driver and the nine-year-old were taken to AnMed Health with what troopers say were minor injuries.
The district says 11 high school students were on the bus at the time. All were checked by paramedics and then left with their parents or went to school.
The bus driver wasn’t injured, but was going to see a doctor as a precaution.
