GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – One person died in a crash Sunday morning on Interstate 85 northbound in Greenville.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 7:31 a.m. around mile marker 53.

Troopers said both a Toyota and Volkswagen were traveling north when the Toyota hit the Volkswagen. The driver of the Toyota lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the left side of the road.

The Toyota then overturned over the median barrier and landed on a Honda, troopers said.

The driver of the Volkswagen had no injuries according to troopers. The driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota died at the scene.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver as Gerardo Hernandez Bautista, 30, of Greenville.
