Driver charged following crash involving school bus in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C (WSPA) – A school bus was involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Spartanburg County. 

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol’s website, the crash happened at about 4:28 p.m. on US 221 near Stillhouse Road. 

SCHP said Frankie Johnson, 66, of Woodruff, was driving a 2004 Ford pickup south on US 221 when he crashed into the back of a school bus. 

Cynthia Robinson with Spartanburg District 6 said the bus had slowed for another accident in front of it.

Robinson said there were 22 students on the bus from Dorman High School and Dorman High School Freshman Campus. 

No one was injured during the crash, according to SCHP. 

Johnson has been charged with driving to fast for conditions, troopers said.
