SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — After a search of Broome High School, an “all clear” has been given by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s office.
A spokesperson with Spartanburg School District 3 said the school was on lockdown as of 10:15 a.m. Wednesday and students were evacuated after the discovery of a note.
Authorities are investigating the anonymous note that was left at 9:40 a.m.
“We are taking all necessary precautions for the safety of our students and working in collaboration with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office,” Aly Myles with School District 3 wrote in an email.
Students were loaded onto buses to keep warm and were later moved to another school while sheriff’s deputies and SLED (S.C. Law Enforcement Division) finished their sweep of the school, Myles said.
Students will be bussed back to school by 2 p.m. and school will continue as scheduled.
However, after school athletic events have been canceled.
