Alligator euthanized after sighting, capture on Sullivan’s Island

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – An alligator spotted in the water at Sullivan’s Island was caught and removed Monday. The animal was then euthanized. According to a spokesman at the Department of Natural Resources, the animal appeared to be in bad health following hours in saltwater.

The alligator was first seen at 8:20 a.m.

The Sullivan’s Island Town Administrator says the alligator is between Station 18 and 16 Streets, approximately 25 feet from the shore.
