Amazon employees evacuated from Spg. Co. facility after possible damage

SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – Amazon workers at a facility in Spartanburg County are headed back to work after they were evacuated early Tuesday morning.

According to Amazon, their associates were evacuated from the fulfillment center due to possible exterior damage to their facility on John Dodd Road.

The company said in a statement that they cancelled night and day shifts temporarily after the evacuation and sent employees home around 4:00am.

“Due to extreme weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution, we cancelled night and day shifts temporarily,” said a statement from the company. “All impacted employees are getting paid for their regular time.”

The company says site engineers found the building to be safe Tuesday afternoon.

Amazon says hundreds of people work at the facility and nobody was hurt.
