Anderson Fire Department responded to a fire that destroyed a house on E Street.
Public Information Officer Travis Poole said firefighters responded just before 10 p.m. Thursday.
The two-story house was on fire when firefighters arrived on scene. Firefighters were unable to enter the house due to the extent of damage.
Firefighters said they did not believe that anyone was inside of the house at the time of the fire.
According to Poole, the home was vacant at the time of the fire.
Poole said they were able to put out the fire.
According to Poole, Anderson Police Department is working with fire investigators, including arson investigators, to continue to find the cause of the fire.
Poole said there was a lot of damage and said they may never know the cause of the fire. He said currently they are unsure if it is safe enough to go inside the home.
He said they are asking nearby neighbors if they saw anything Thursday night.
Poole said this is the second time that the house has been on fire.
