Anderson woman run over by 2 cars, killed in hit-and-run


ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – Authorities say an Anderson woman is dead after she was hit by two vehicles that left the scene. 

Troopers say the hit-and-run happened at Highway 28 near Animal Shelter Drive in Anderson around 11:34 p.m. Sunday. 

UPDATE: Arrest made in hit-and-run

Trooper Joe Hovis with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the woman was in the roadway at the time of deadly accident. 

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore identified the woman as Dana Michelle Ashworth, 44, of Anderson, was hit by two separate vehicles — once when she was standing up and the second time when she was lying on the road.

Ashworth died from blunt force trauma and head trauma.

Troopers are still looking for the drivers and the crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
