Arrest made after bicyclist killed in hit-and-run in Spartanburg Co.


SPARTANBURG CO., SC (WSPA) – The Highway Patrol says an arrest was made after a bicycle rider was hit and killed while riding along Rainbow Lake Road in Spartanburg County, Friday night.

According to Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 9:00pm on Rainbow Lake Road near Bible Church Road.

Troopers say 32 year old Nicole Mc Clain was arrested Saturday night.

McClain is in the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

The Highway Patrol says she’s facing charges of felony hit and run involving a death and operating an uninsured vehicle.

The Spartanburg County Coroner identified the victim as 46-year-old Joseph Shane Melton of Inman. 

Highway Patrol says Melton died at the scene.
