GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Greenville Police Department officials said a suspected bank robber has been arrested after they were caught on Interstate 85 following a chase.
Donald Porter, a spokesman with the Greenville Police Department, said the TD Bank at 917 Haywood Road was robbed around 9:15 a.m. Friday.
The suspect — later identified as 36-year-old Brandon Laster of Piedmont — reportedly entered the bank wearing dark clothing and a ski mask, and demanded money.
According to a Greenville Police Department news release, Laster grabbed an unknown amount of cash and ran from the bank, leading police on chase.
Officers apprehended the suspect near I-85 at I-185 about 20 minutes after the robbery.
Police say no one was reportedly hurt.
According to the release, investigators do not believe Laster used any weapons during the commission of this crime.
Laster is being held at the Law Enforcement Center with pending charges for a bank robbery.
“The successful resolution of today’s incident was a direct result of the Greenville Police
Department working collaboratively with our fellow law enforcement agencies,” Capt. Howie
Thompson said. “Additionally, I could not be more proud of how our 911 dispatch operators expertly
coordinated the critical flow of information, which allowed us to quickly apprehend this individual
without harm to our citizens or to our dedicated officers.”
According to the release, a forensics team responded to the bank and the FBI was notified and is reviewing the case for prosecution.
