UNION Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Deputies found a man hiding in the crawlspace of a house after he allegedly beat his girlfriend.
Deputies responded to a domestic incident Wednesday night at a home on Phillipi Church Road.
The victim told deputies that she and 51-year-old Willard Jennings Ramey got into an argument moments before he grabbed her from behind and began punching her in the head and choked her until she almost lost consciousness.
A report says deputies noted knots on the victim’s head and face.
While speaking to the victim, a deputy heard sounds coming from under the house. That’s where officers found Ramey hiding.
He was charged with domestic violence.
As of Thursday, he remained in the Union County jail.
