UNION CO., SC (WSPA) – An employee at the Belk Distribution Center in Jonesville has tested positive for Tuberculous, according to a spokesperson for Belk.
On June 16th, Belk was notified that an employee tested positive for TB. On June 21st, DHEC visited the site to evaluate the situation, testing the air handling at the facility. Belk states that the results showed a low risk for TB to be spread, due to their 98 HVAC systems circulating the air.
On June 28th, an investigation revealed to DHEC who worked closely with the infected patient and they tested those employees for TB as well.
DHEC confirmed their involvement in the investigation, but couldn’t comment further. They did share this letter DHEC sent to all employees at the facility

According to figures from DHEC, 15 people in Upstate counties tested positive for Tuberculous in 2016.
