A black bear was spotted Sunday afternoon in the Converse Heights neighborhood in Spartanburg.

Alex Hicks, of the Spartanburg Herald Journal, snapped these pictures of the bear that was seen up in a tree on Otis Boulevard around 2 pm Sunday.

The Department of Natural Resources says the bear is a juvenile that weighs less than a hundred pounds.

They tell the Herald Journal the bear eventually came down and ran off.

DNR tells the newspaper officers followed the bear towards Duncan Park, where they say it went into the woods and hopefully out of town.

DNR wants to hear from you if you’ve spotted a black bear. You can report it here or by calling 1-800-922-5431.
