Blacksburg man gets 20 years for sex assault of child

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – A Blacksburg man was sentenced to 20 years in prison following the sexual assault of a child.

According to a solicitor’s office news release, Jeramy Brian McDaniel, 36, pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct on Monday.

An employee with South Carolina Department of Social Service reported the crime to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 7, 2016.

According to the release, a female victim described the incident in detail with a deputy and the Children’s Advocacy Center.

McDaniel initially denied he did anything wrong when he was questioned, but later changed his story and admitted to the crime.

According to the release, McDaniel will serve 85 percent of his prison sentence before he is eligible for release and he will also be added to the Sex Offender Registry.

McDaniel had no prior criminal record.
