Body found in crashed car in Greenville Co. creek

GREENVILLE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Authorities are investigating after a person was found dead in a car in a creek in Taylors.

Greenville County sheriff’s deputies assisted troopers in the crash on Center Drive near Groce Meadow Road. The car was found in Beaver Dam Creek. 

Lieutenant Jimmy Bolt, spokesman for the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, says one victim was found dead in the car. Dive team members searched the surrounding area for other potential victims. 

The S.C. Highway Patrol says troopers were dispatched to a single-car crash around 2:07 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3. 

Troopers say it appears one person was in the car.

The driver was headed south on Center Drive when troopers say they went off the side of the road, hit a guardrail and went into the water. 

It’s unknown if the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver died at the scene of the crash. 

Their name has not been released at this time.
