A body was found Thursday morning on the University of South Carolina campus in Columbia.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division spokesman Thom Berry confirms that they received the call from the campus police shortly after 6 a.m. saying that a body was found on the sidewalk on Bull Street adjacent to a parking garage.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office says Oliver Sherlock Homes of Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene.  An autopsy shows that he died from blunt force injuries to the head due to a fall from a significant height.

How he fell is still under investigation by SLED.  Under state law, anytime there’s a death on a college campus, state officials have to investigate.
