LAURENS CO., SC (WSPA) – Two suspects in a chase that happened in Laurens Co. Wednesday are in court today.
Bond was denied for Phillip Ray Kilgore, 38, based on his prior record and charges.
He apologized and said he was under the influence. He says he didn’t mean to do what he did.
Bond was set at $30,000 for the second suspect, Debra Lynn Adkins, 42.
She apologized and said she wasn’t in her right mind and doesn’t remember what happened.
She says she tried to be cooperative.WHAT HAPPENED?
Deputies say they responded to a burglary in progress around 11:53 a.m. Wednesday on Hellams Circle in Gray Court.
When they got there a deputy saw the suspects leaving the location.
They tried to stop them and a chase started.
The chase ended when Kilgore lost control of the vehicle in front of the ZF Transmission plant on North Old Laurens Rd.
Kilgore tried to run over the deputy, according to the sheriff’s office.
The deputy fired two rounds into the wheel of the suspect’s vehicle and disabled it.
Kilgore and Adkins were arrested without further incident.
The sheriff’s office has asked SLED to investigate because the deputy discharged his weapon.
No one was hurt.
