Boy assaulted by robbers on bikes in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — A 12-year-old boy told Spartanburg police he was robbed by two males who reportedly had a knife and BB gun.

The robbery happened Sunday evening on Old Canaan Road near Southport Road. 

The victim noticed he was being followed by the suspects while buying candy at a nearby convenience store, according to a police report. 

The victim said the suspects mentioned having a knife and BB gun, but didn’t use either weapon before assaulting him and taking his backpack and fanny pack. 

The boy wasn’t hurt in the assault. 

Afterwards, he flagged down a driver who reported the robbery. 

The victim told police he believed the suspects were around 18 years old and one was wearing a black headband and green Nike shoes.

They were last seen heading towards Southport Road on bicycles .
