GREENVILLE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Officials say a child suffered minor injuries when he was hit walking to school in Greenville County.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. Monday on E. Marion Road.

Lance Cpl. Joe Hovis with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the child was hit by a vehicle near Monaview Circle.

Hovis said the 11-year-old was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Beth Brotherton with Greenville County Schools confirmed the child is a student at Monaview Elementary School.

Brotherton said in a news release the fourth grader was walking to school when he was hit at a four-way stop near the school.

“We are thankful that first responders arrived quickly to provide medical treatment. The student told firefighters he was excited to come back to school after the holiday break. The student is bruised, but otherwise not seriously injured,” Brotherton said.

Hovis said there were no charges in the accident.
