SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA) – A burglar broke a church’s stained glass window to get in, according to a Spartanburg Police report.

It happened at the Messiah Missionary Baptist Church at 350 Duncan St.

The paster said it happened between July 28 and July 29.

He said someone came through the top window of the back of the building using a ladder.

Police say there was a ladder propped up to the back window of the church and the stained glass window busted out.

Some choir seats were also broken, according to the report.

The window enters the build into the choir loft area.

The pastor said the back door near the choir area was ajar when he arrived at the church Sunday morning.

He said he found a hammer in the floor of the sanctuary, but didn’t realize it was involved in the crime before he moved it.

The only thing that was missing was a laptop, according to the report.
