Car hits train, Clinton woman killed in Laurens Co.


CLINTON, S.C. (WSPA) — A woman was killed early Friday morning after a crash involving a train.

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office identified the woman as Cynthia Denise Alexander, 48, of Palmetto St. in Clinton.

Alexander died at the scene.

Deputy Coroner Vickie Cheek said the crash happened at 76 West and Thornwell Street.

Cheek said Alexander’s vehicle was hit by the train’s engine.

An autopsy will be done this afternoon.

This is the 14th traffic fatality in Laurens County so far this year, Cheek said.
