Chemical spill closes Hwy. 25 in Greenville Co.

GREENVILLE CO., SC (WSPA) – A chemical spill has shut down a highway in southern Greenville County.

According to Highway Patrol, Highway 25 near Bessie Road is being detoured while crews work to clean up after a truck leaked sodium hydroxide solution on the road.

Southbound traffic is being detoured right on to Bessie Road, left on North Flat Rock Road, left on Owens Road, right on West Georgia Road, and back to Highway 25.

Northbound traffic is being detoured left on West Georgia Road, right on Owens Road, right on North Flat Rock Road, right on Bessie Road, and back to Highway 25.

Highway Patrol says the clean up will extend into the evening and people should find an alternate route.

South Greenville Fire Department is handling the cleanup, troopers say.
