Child shot, wounded in dispute involving fireworks in Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. (WSPA) – Anderson County deputies are still on the hunt for two men after a toddler was shot in a fight involving fireworks.

It all happened on Evergreen Street outside the city limits of Anderson just before 8 p.m. on Thursday. Sheriff Chad McBride tells 7News someone shot fireworks out of a car into a group that group returned with gunfire.

Now 3 year old Aubri, who was inside the vehicle when the shooting broke out, is in the hospital. The sheriff said she was struck in the leg with a bullet, but is expected to be okay.
As for now deputies are patrolling the area looking for two young white men who are potential suspects in this case.

“Last night we set up a perimeter and searched for the two males and just couldn’t get the perimeter set up in time and we got a good track on them, but lost them in some thick brush,” McBride said.

Now they are asking for the community’s help in solving the case.  If anyone has information on what happened or who was involved, you are asked to call the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

As for the little girl, 7News spoke with her family who said she is expected to make a full recovery just in time for her fourth birthday next week.
