Church and cemetery vandalized, police looking for suspects

ETOWAH (WATE) – The McMinn County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect or suspects who vandalized a gravestone at Etowah Cemetery and Pleasant Grove Church Sunday night in Etowah.

Sheriff Joe Guy shared photos on Instagram of a gravestone and the church’s sign, both of which had been vandalized with spray paint. Sheriff Guy says a deputy was able to remove most of the paint from the gravestone.

Guy is asking people to help watch area churches and cemeteries for suspicious people or vehicles at night and to report descriptions to 911. Anyone with info on the vandalism suspect or suspects is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (423) 745-5620.
