Citadel staffer charged with sex abuse of cadet

News

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WSPA) – A former cadet at The Citadel claims an officer used his authority to commit a sex crime.

That officer, 56-year-old Kenneth Boes, has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division also charged him giving beer or wine to a minor.

SLED was asked to investigate the incident by the The Citadel.

An affidavit states that Boes forcibly kissed the victim on the lips in September 2017 while the two were in Boes’ office.

Boes is also accused of giving the victim alcohol and pills during a dinner at his home.

“While the victim was physically helpless, the defendant began to perform unsolicited oral sex on the victim. The victim blacked out as the oral sex continued,” according to the affidavit.

The Associated Press reports that Boes worked at the Citadel since 2002 as part of the Teach-Advise-Coach team.
