GREENVILLE, COUNTY, SC – (WSPA) Tuesday, the city of Greenville Housing Authority broke ground for a new senior citizen complex, Preserve at Logan Park.
This new construction site will host 193 units dedicated to affordable housing. Residents of this new complex will be qualifying senior citizens.
Housing Authority Executive Director, Ivory Mathews, said this construction is the third installment for the city and honors a commitment the city set years ago.
The city of Greenville vowed to create more affordable housing locations for the elderly after Scott Towers Public Housing was found to be unfit for residents and was later imploded.
Preserve at Logan Park is the third affordable housing construction project for the city of Greenville.
“We realize the importance of creating those affordable housing opportunities for seniors and our seniors need affordable place to to age in place a nice secure location,” Matthews said.
The design for Preserve at Logan Park’s 193 new units, constructed a new building with 113 units. Additionally, the housing authority renovated 80 units from the current Garden Apartment Complex.
