SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — At least one vandal covered a gazebo at Cleveland Park in Spartanburg with a symbol of hate and other markings.
A Spartanburg Police Department report says the gazebo facing Asheville Highway was spray painted with graffiti sometime between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.
An officer noted the gazebo poles, brick wall and concrete floor covered in blue, black and white spray paint.
The vandals left a swastika and pentagram on the gazebo, along with several words and numbers, including “Crip” and “666,” according to the report.
Footprints were found in snow near an entrance that could have reportedly been made by the suspect or visitors to the park.
7News is told the park is getting a crew to pressure wash off the graffiti Wednesday and repaint the graffiti on Thursday.
The damage is estimated to range between $500 and $1,000.
