TRANSYLVANIA CO., NC (WSPA) – One person was airlifted to the hospital after a fall at Looking Glass Rock in Transylvania County.
According to Transylvania County Rescue Squad, they were called to the scene for a report of a rock climber who fell and another climber possibly stuck on the rock.
They say the climber who was reportedly stuck managed to lower themselves down before rescue crews arrived.
Another climber reporteldy fell more than 100 feet.
Both climbers were taken to Transylvania Regional Hospital. The climber who fell was later flown to Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Rescuers say he was conscious and alert at the scene.
7News is told other climbers who were wilderness first responder certified cared for the patient who had an ankle injury, but didn’t appear to have any other major injuries.
