Community Can Help Spartanburg Get On The Map

The Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Spartanburg along with Google are working to put Spartanburg on the map.

It’s part of Google’s program called “Let’s Put Our Cities On The Map.”  It’s to promote small businesses within the city and the area, so that others can find them through search engines.

“4 out of 5 consumers use a search engine to find business information online and less than 40 % of businesses have claimed their listing and so its very important for them to put their information online so people can find them,” said Shea Dent with the Chamber of Commerce.

Businesses can go online and claim their listing so that when someone searches them they pop up.

Consumers can list businesses they use so that they become more popular on the web as well.

And with the growth of Spartanburg online, many believe the city will grow as well. “The more we show how many businesses are here and how many things there are to do, and that Spartanburg is a place to do business,” said Dent.
