Community members remember Gaffney man with candlelight vigil

Family, friends and community members gathered Friday evening for a candlelight vigil in Gaffney. 

Community activiest Jack Logan held the vigil to remember the life of Montrell McMullens, 23, of Gaffney. The vigil was at 6:30 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church.  

McMullens died January 19 during surgery at Spartanburg Medical Center after he was shot at a nightclub the night before, according to the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office. 

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said no arrests have been made following the shooting. 

The sheriff’s office will continue their investigation by processing all of the evidence that was collected as well as following up on all leads and tips.
