ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – The Anderson County Coroner’s Office released the autopsy results of a 2-year-old who died following a traumatic brain injury.

Deputy Coroner Don McCown said the toddler, known as Evie, died from a cerebral edema/subdural hemorrhage, which is a result of blunt force trauma.

McCown said the manner of death is still under investigation.

7News previously reported that the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the little girl’s death.

Evie was taken to AnMed Health Center on April 17 before she was transferred to Greenville Memorial Hospital. On Saturday, Evie was taken off life support.

The coroner said her death is being investigating by the Anderson County Child Death Investigation Task Force.

The task force consists of the sheriff’s office, coroner’s office and the S.C. Department of Social Services.

Meanwhile, the community and loved ones search for answers.

Sheriff Chad McBride previously acknowledged public concern over the case.

“We fully understand these concerns, but are determined to allow the investigative process to work its course and allow all of the facts to come to light,” McBride said.
