Man dead after apt. fire was stabbed, Greenville Co. coroner says

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) - The Greenville County Coroner says a man pulled from a burning building Friday died from a stab wound.

61-year-old Kenneth Dale Capps was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner says Capps died from a stab wound to the chest. 

Crews responded to a fire at an apartment on Duncan Chapel Road, Friday night.

While crews were inside the Court Ridge Apartments, they found Capps and pulled him from the building.

Capps died at the scene just after 7:00pm, according to the coroner.

The coroner has not yet released the manner of death.

Firefighters reportedly had the fire until control and put out in about 5 minutes.

Duncan Chapel Fire Department was the lead agency at the scene and Berea Fire Department was on standby to assist.

The death is under investigation by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office and the Greenville County Coroner's Office.
