ANDERSON Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Fire crews are battling a blaze at the site of a former mill in Anderson County.
Dispatch received the report of a commercial building in flames at 42 Harris Street around 4:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Flames could be seen from Diamond Street almost two hours after the fire was reported.
A firefighter tells 7News it’s the site of Orr-Lyons Mill, and that crews fought another fire years ago.
Anderson County, Broadway and Homeland Park fire departments are on the scene.
Anderson County Fire Chief Jimmy Sutherland said a pile of wood planks near the old mill caught on fire.
County officials say there’s no danger to the public or environmental risk from the fire.
Chief Sutherland said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
