GAFFNEY, SC (WSPA) – Gaffney Fire Department officials said crews responded to two structure fires on Monday.

According to the fire department’s Facebook post, crews responded to a house fire Coach Hill Drive in the East Gaffney community around 8 a.m.

Upon arrival, crews saw smoke and fire coming from the home.

One person was in the home at the time of the fire and was able to escape through a bedroom window. The person was reportedly not injured.

The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature and there were no working smoke alarms in the home, according to fire officials.

According to the post, as crews were returning to the station, they were notified of a second separate fire at a different location for a fire at an outbuilding.

One person was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center from that second fire and is expected to be ok.

Fire officials said the cause of that fire is the result of the person falling asleep with smoking materials.
