Help solve arson cases in Anderson

ANDERSON CO., S.C. (WSPA) - The City of Anderson Police Department has asked for assistance with two arson cases. 

The first incident happened at about 1:15 a.m. at the Unity Mortuary at 401 South Fant Street, on June 15, according to police department's Facebook page. Three vehicles were intentional incinerated and destroyed.

According to Capt. Aikens, the fire started in the floor board of a family car, which then spread to a flower vehicle and a hearse.

Aikens said the cars were reportedly close together at the Unity Mortuary funeral home.

The second incident happened at about 12:58 a.m. Tuesday in D. B. Walker Park at 308 South Jefferson Avenue, according to police. A picnic table under a shelter was set on fire, but went out shortly after being ignited. Police said the arsonists reignited the table at about 1:06 a.m. The table was destroyed and the shelter suffered structural damage after it caught on fire, according to police.

Aikens said they do not know at this time if the incidents are related and no suspects have been identified.
