Arrest made in murder of man on Frank St. in Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) - Police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing death of 64-year-old Johnny Ray Brown on Frank Street in Greenville.

51-year-old James Thomas Benson has been charged with Murder, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

Brown was found dead by a friend in his home on Frank Street on Tuesday. The coroner says Brown died Sunday.

Greenville Police say Brown's money and cell phone were missing from his home. Investigators say Benson had the stolen phone and was using it after Brown was killed.

Officers say they found the phone in Benson's home and that Benson admitted to stabbing Brown and taking his money.

Benson is being held in the Greenville County Detention Center without bond.
