Man faces attempted murder charge following barricade situation in Asheville, police say

UPDATE – Police said Wednesday at 12:03 p.m. that Chad Nathaniel Sexton was safely taken into custody.

He is facing a first degree attempted murder charge, which stemmed from Wednesday’s incident, according to the police department.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – Asheville Police Department officials said a barricaded man has fired two shots and threatened his neighbors.

Officers said the man was barricaded in his home in the area of Sand Hill Road, and the scene has been active since 4:30 a.m.

Police have asked residents of the surrounding homes to stay inside.

A crisis negotiation team responded to the scene, officers said.
