Man arrested after hours-long standoff in Landrum, police say


LANDRUM, SC (WSPA) – Police said a wanted man is in custody after a standoff which lasted several hours at a home in Landrum Friday afternoon.

According to the Landrum Police Department, officers were notified by the US Marshal’s Service that a man wanted out of North Carolina was hiding at a home on Sarah Drive in Landrum.

The suspect, Javier Miguel Riley, was wanted on charges of intimidating a witness, felonious assault with a deadly weapon, and felony fleeing to elude officers.

Officers from the Landrum Police Department, Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, and the US Marshal’s Service responded to the home and said that the people inside refused to comply with commands to leave the home.

Police said more officers from Campobello responded to the scene along with SLED agents.

Landrum Police said Riley surrendered to officers after several hours and was taken into custody without incident.

According to police, two stolen vehicles and a stolen trailer were also found on the property.
