Cyclist seriously hurt in Simpsonville hit-and-run


GREENVILLE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Troopers say a 41-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital after a hit-and-run. 

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday on Woodruff Road.

Lance Cpl. Joe Hovis with the S.C. Highway Patrol said a cyclist and a vehicle were both headed east when the cyclist was rear ended near Anderson Ridge Road near Simpsonville.

Hovis said the cyclist suffered serious injuries.

He was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Friends identify him as Ben McCall and they have started a GoFundMe to help his family while he recovers. 

Troopers are looking for a burgundy 4-door sedan.

The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
