Daily Dish: Aryana Restaurant Greenville to open this week

Have you ever wanted to try Afghan cuisine? Nelo is the owner of Greenville’s first Afghan restaurant, Aryana, opening this week and is here to showcase some of the items on the menu. The restaurant will be open for lunch and special events.  Visit them at 210 East Coffee Street, Greenville.

Recipe Sweet potato Burani:

4 potatos

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon brown sugar

½ teaspoon turmeric

1/5 teaspoon dry red pepper

½ teaspoon ginger powder

½ cup water

1/3 cup oil

Yogurt 4 or 5 tablespoon

½ teaspoon dry mint

Preparation:

Skin the potatoes then wash and slice them, put them into frying pan, Mix all the spices in a small bowl with the the water, pouring the mix on the potato. Add Oil and stir. With the lid on turn the hear ad medium for 15 minutes, stick a fork into the potato to see if it is soft, if soft turn the heat low until all the water evaporates. Separately mix yogurt, sour cream and mint. Spread the mixed yogurt in the plate then potato on top of it and then lay a layer o the mixed yogurt on top of potato.  Drizzle mint on top before serving.
