SPARTANBURG, SC (WSPA)– Wedding season is almost here and that can put a strain on your wallet. But a recent study says declining an invitation could cause even more problems.

A Bankrate study found 1 in 5 people declined a wedding invite because they could not afford it.

The study also found 30% of those who declined said it damaged their friendship with the couple.

Meanwhile, 25 percent of those who chose not to attend did not send a wedding gift.
