Greenville County deputies responded to a shooting at a hotel Saturday afternoon.
Dispatch officials said they were made aware at about 4:08 p.m. that there was a gunshot victim at the Country Hearth Inn & Suites.
The hotel is located at 224 Bruce Road.
Deputies said the hotel manager was shot at least one time after an altercation with a patron.
The manager was taken to an area hospital and is expected to be ok, according to deputies.
“The doctors told me…at least two months for the recovery,” said the hotel manager, Vasant Misal.
Misal said the bullet went through his cheek and out of the back of his head.
The manager’s daughter, Priya Misal, said the shooter was a stranger to their family. She said her father and the customer got in an argument over a $75 bill. She said the customer accused her father of overcharging when an overdraft fee appeared.
“He even showed him a receipt showing that he didn’t charge them extra…he just charged them the amount that he originally said that he would,” Misal said.
Vasant Misal said he even offered the customer a cash refund, but he wouldn’t budge.
“Actually he was trying to shoot me in the head, but I saw…so I just moved like that,” Misal said, turning his head slightly.
According to Priya Misal, the suspect left his receipt, leaving his fingerprints for investigators and his scent for the police dogs.
The suspect, Gregory Campbell, left the scene wearing a black “Just Do It” hoodie, deputies said.
Campbell has been located and was arrested, according to deputies.
Campbell faces charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime.
For the Misal family, the fear and panic of that day are still very real.
“It’s been tough,” Priya Misal said. “My sister and I…we don’t go out. And my mom’s actually scared to let me work now.”
