An Anderson County deputy was injured during a single-vehicle crash Thursday.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at about 6 p.m. on SC Highway 29 North.
The deputy was enroute to assist another deputy for a backup call, according to the sheriff’s office. The deputy had their car’s lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.
The deputy was driving north on Highway 29 near Griffin Road when a vehicle began to pull out of an intersection, deputies said. The deputy ran off of the road and hit an embankment to avoid hitting the vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy is alert and was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
