GREENVILLE, SC (WSPA) – The South Carolina Department of Transportation officials said a detour will be in place on Interstate 85 northbound starting Thursday night.

According to the SCDOT, detour is needed as crews continue work on the I-85/385 Gateway Project.

I-85 northbound traffic will be detoured at the Exit 51 ramp and will be directed to Exit 51-B to 385 southbound.

Drivers will then take Butler Road and will make a left and get back onto 385 northbound, and that will then take them back to 85 northbound towards Spartanburg.

The detour will be in place starting at 10 p.m. and will be removed by 5 a.m. on Friday.

SCDOT asks drivers to be cautious while navigating through the interchange and to follow all signage and devices.
