District one wraps up summer and jumps into the school year

Students at Holly Springs Motlow Elementary are getting ready to return to school next Monday.

They have been learning all summer long through a challenge given to them from their teachers.

It is called the “Summer Workout Challenge” Students were given booklets with reading and math exercises.

If students completed the booklet they would get to go on a field trip this school year.

Already the school has received more than 150 completed booklets.

Over the summer the school asked students to submit pictures of themselves completing the challenge.

Out of those students three were chosen from a hat to get a “surprise treasure” District one is looking forward to this school year for other reasons.

They will be unveiling a new logo Thursday at 8:30 at Landrum High School.

The district wanted to change the current logo to be more modern.

The district took feedback from students, parents, faculty and staff.

They wanted to logo to be simple yet iconic.

District one says the logo reflects education, strength and tradition.
