GREENVILLE Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Two women killed after a reported kidnapping in Pickens will be laid to rest.
Funeral services for Rebecca Purry and her aunt, Claudette Purry, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary on Augusta Street in Greenville.
Pickens police say Rebecca’s ex-boyfriend, Marco Vaught, shot Claudette and kidnapped Rebecca earlier this month.
Claudette died later that day at a hospital. Rebecca and Vaught were found dead just days later at Vaught’s home in eastern North Carolina.
An obituary says Rebecca “Becky” Purry is survived by three sons. She also leaves behind five sisters, her father and many other loved ones.
Claudette “Etta” Purry is survived by eight brothers and sisters, according to an obituary.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for funeral expenses. It says 28-year-old Rebecca moved back to Pickens after finding the courage to leave an abusive relationship and was living there with Claudette when her ex-boyfriend showed up there and demanded she leave with him. The page says Claudette stepped in to try and help Rebecca and was shot three times.
The campaign has surpassed its $10,000 goal and raised more than $15,500 as of Monday morning.
