Drag Queen Story Hour held at library in Simpsonville

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Law enforcement agencies started preparing Sunday morning for what they expected to be a large crowd at the Drag Queen Story Hour event in Simpsonville.

The event began at 3 p.m. at the at Five Forks Library.

South Carolina Highway Patrol and Greenville County deputies started blocking off roads and parking lots before 9:30 a.m., according to 7News crews on scene. 

There were spirited protests and counter protests outside the event, Sunday afternoon.

The reading event went as planned inside the library.
