CLINTON, SC (WSPA) – Clinton Police have arrested a man they say led officers on a chase Tuesday night that ended with a crash in I-26.

26-year-old Hakeem Qudell Evans was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, Driving Under Suspension, and Possession of Marijuana. Evans was also charged with other traffic offenses.

Police say they attempted to stop a 1979 Chevrolet after officers ran the license plate and found it was suspended and it was on the wrong vehicle.

Officers chased the car for less than 10 minutes before the car crashed on I-26 near mile marker 41. Highway Patrol says the driver lost control and struck a guardrail in the median.

Evans was not injured in the crash.
