SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — Troopers say a Pacolet man was killed when his vehicle overturned in a crash.

The wreck happened around 10:50 p.m. Monday on S. Pine Street about two miles south of Spartanburg.

Lance Cpl. Joe Hovis with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the 56-year-old driver was headed east when he ran off the side of the road and hit a fence.

Hovis said the vehicle overturned. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was trapped and had to be extricated from the wreck.

The driver died at the scene.

The coroner identified the victim as George Edward Fisher, 56, of 170 Hart Street in Pacolet.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said an autopsy is scheduled Tuesday.

“Please keep Mr. Fisher‘s family in your thoughts and prayers during their time of loss and grief,” Clevenger said in a statement.
